What program do you use to make them?
I think the way you did the lighting is just fine in my oppiinion. Just focusing more light on the subject (character) enfasize detail I think. When I look at the city in the background, its like little minature highlites of things that are going on, like anything that does not have light is not present in the picture. I am not sure but I think there is an artstyle liked that I have seen in the way american cmoci artists draw their citis.
If understand what I maan, its that you only outline the corners of buildings and detail with white lines instead of actual line art, I think, its like inverting the line art from black to white.
I like it, its something that brings a focus to me when I jsut glance at it.
